James Leander Cathcart (1767-1843) was U.S. Consul to Tripoli & Tunis at the turn of the century. He was a sailor, a slave (in Algiers for 11 years), and a diplomat; having immigrated to the United States from Ireland, he served as a privateer in the American Revolution at 12 years old. Very scarce.
