Large octavo. 9.5 x 7 in. xv, 236 pp. Illustrated with woodcuts, lithographs, and with twelve mounted albumen photographs by Frederic Gutekunst. Very mild rubbing to spinal extremities, otherwise near fine in original blue cloth heavily decorated in gilt, all edges gilt, bookseller "J.S. Lever, Binder, Phila." trade label on rear pastedown endpaper. Nice copy. Item #32930

Limited edition, numbered 432 of 1,000 copies. Photographer Frederic Gutekunst was a prominent Philadelphia and Civil War photographer (and also a Mason himself). Philadelphia's Masonic Hall was designed by architect James H. Windrim (located on Broad and Filbert Streets), elaborate with over seven large rooms completed over time and with seven different architectural styles however primarily medeival Norman style. The temple is now on the National Register of Historic Places and also a designated National Historic Landmark (cited from Masonic Library & Museum of Pennsylvania).
